Abundance of Love: Parents of Autistic Children, Teens, and Adults share what they've learned

Description

Lisa Lieberman, a parent, social worker, and author will moderate a discussion by a panel of parents of autistic children, teens, and adults, who have varying levels of support and accommodation needs, some of whom speak and some of whom use technology to communicate.  The panelists will reflect on their personal stories and respond to a series of questions. As time permits, there will be discussion among panelists and Q&A with attendees. Panelists are Marie Giongo, Sarah Arshad, Danielle Vauthy, Dennis Mashue, Paul Bakeman, and Sharon Koeppl-Medina. 

Questions for Panelists:

  1. How old is/are your autistic child(ren)/adult child(ren) and how old were they when they were diagnosed?
  2. Has your view of autism changed as a result of parenting an autistic person? Has your view of parenting changed as a result of parenting an autistic person? How?
  3. If you could send a message back in time to yourself at the moment you learned your child's diagnosis, what sort of advice and information would you share with your past self?
  4. What are some things other people said or did for you or your child that you are especially grateful for?
